Leadership Intensives
MVNC offers several leadership intensives each year. These are typically multi-session, in-person workshops that cover a specific topic or help nonprofit teams work on a specific project. These programs often have limited registration, a small fee, and require multiple board and staff member participation. The goal of these intensives is for organizations to have time to work collaboratively within their team and within the cohort of nonprofits to address a topic or project that will move their organization forward.
Institute for Nonprofit Practice Each year MVNC partners with Tufts University to bring the Institute for Nonprofit Practice to island nonprofit leaders. This program is designed for current executive nonprofit leaders and emerging nonprofit leaders. The 7-month program differs from other professional development courses, with its emphasis placed equally on leadership, self-awareness, and personal growth. The Board Leader Training will take place over 4 sessions on Tuesdays in September and October 2024. 2024 applications are now closed, but you can read more about the program here. 2024 Strategic Planning
Led by: Patricia Floyd, ConsultantThis multi-session program will provide experiential learning of strategic planning as you and your colleagues develop and refine your organization’s strategic plan. Throughout the four, in person, half-day sessions, nonprofit leaders will strengthen their understanding of strategic planning and how it applies to their individual organization. Each participating team will leave the workshop series with a robust, implementable strategic plan and the ability and confidence to repeat this process moving forward.
Plus up to four hours per participating organization for the series, will be available to support each organizations’ between-sessions work and plan development. In 2023 we offered the following MVNC leadership intensives:
- Strategic Planning, October 2022-January 2023: 5 nonprofit staff and board teams met regularly from October to January to learn from Patricia Floyd about strategic planning and to outline a plan for a specific strategic initiative.
Board Leader Training, May-June 2022: Board members from 10 nonprofits took part in this 7 session training designed to strengthen the capacity and leadership of a nonprofit Board.
- Marketing and Creating your Nonprofit Brand, June 2023: This past spring 20 representatives from Island nonprofits came together to learn from NYC-based leader in marketing and branding Grounded World.
