What Every Nonprofit Employer needs To Know Today

Changes to Employment Laws and including impact of Covid-19

with Samantha Halem Esq.

Friday March 18th at 10:30AM

Do you have employees or are you thinking of hiring?  If so, you MUST comply with a multitude of ever changing employment laws. The penalties are severe; the rules are strict; and the laws are non-negotiable.

But never fear, on Friday March 18th Massachusetts "Super Lawyer" Samantha Halem returns to explain it all and answer your employment law questions.  Samantha will go over basic employment law with a focus on concerns specific to Island nonprofits including:

  • Issues relating to seasonal workers, student workers, part-time workers, and volunteers;
  • Misclassification of employees and failure to pay overtime;
  • Misclassification of employees as independent contractors;
  • How to hire employees; what you can and cannot ask for an application;
  • How to properly end an employment relationship;
  • Basics of discrimination and harassment law.
  • Covid Updates
  • Masks
  • Vaccine Mandates
  • Benefits under ARPA

Even if you have attended Samantha's sessions in the past, you cannot afford to miss this one.
