    MARTHA’S VINEYARD, Mass. – October, 2026 – Tomorrow’s Women TODAY (TWToday) and the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative (MVNC) announced a new partnership to expand mentorship, professional development and leadership opportunities for women working in Martha’s Vineyard’s nonprofit sector.

    Island nonprofits provide essential services and contribute to the well-being and vitality of the Vineyard community. Women play a central role in this work—as staff members, emerging leaders and executives. Investing in their professional growth strengthens both the organizations they lead and the communities they serve.

    Through the partnership, a cohort of emerging women leaders and women early in their executive careers at Vineyard nonprofits will gain access to cross-industry mentorship, leadership development and a broader professional community beyond Martha’s Vineyard.

    “Women lead most powerfully when they have access to community, meaningful mentorship and people who are invested in their growth,” said Lauren Pimpare, Founder and President of Tomorrow’s Women TODAY. “There is an incredible community of women doing important work across Martha’s Vineyard. Through this partnership, we have an opportunity to connect those leaders with women across industries, career stages and geographies who can share their experiences, open doors and help one another grow while creating relationships that strengthen both the individual leaders and the organizations and communities they serve.”

    The partnership will focus on:

    • Expanding access to mentorship, professional development and leadership opportunities;
    • Connecting Island nonprofit professionals with women across industries, generations and career stages;
    • Building skills, confidence and relationships that support career advancement;
    • Supporting employee engagement, retention and leadership succession within Island nonprofits; and
    • Helping women build meaningful, sustainable careers while contributing to the Martha’s Vineyard community.
    “Investing in the women who work in our nonprofits is an investment in the future of Martha’s Vineyard,” said Jackie Friedman, Psy.D., Executive Director of the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative. “We want talented women to see a path to grow, lead and build lasting careers within our Island organizations. This partnership expands access to mentors, new perspectives and professional networks beyond the Vineyard, while building leadership capacity here at home. When we support the people doing this work, we strengthen the nonprofits our community depends on.”

    The collaboration brings together the complementary strengths of the two organizations. MVNC supports Island nonprofits through professional development, nonprofit advocacy, shared resources and collaboration. TWToday connects women across industries, generations and career stages through mentorship, leadership development, professional relationships and community engagement.

    The partnership builds on MVNC’s commitment to developing nonprofit leaders at different stages of their careers. By connecting local leadership development with a broader network of women professionals, the initiative aims to help participating organizations cultivate future leaders, retain talented staff and strengthen their capacity to serve the Island.

    Additional details about the cohort, programming and participation opportunities will be announced as the partnership develops.

    “People are worried that the models right now are not sustainable,” said Jackie Friedman, executive director of the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative. The collaborative counsels and works with the hundreds of nonprofits around the Island. “Many nonprofits experienced disruption in grants and funding in the spring. The uncertainty and changes to predictability in funding streams forced many nonprofits to diversify funding streams, creating more local events, and looking to local grants and donors to support sustainability.”

    This session is especially beneficial for leaders aiming to foster organizations that enhance innovation, creativity, productivity, engagement, and relationships. Nonprofit Notebook: Age in Action

    -MVTimes, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 by Mollie Doyle

    The Nonprofit Notebook series is a collaboration between MVNC and MVTimes that aims to help Island nonprofits tell their stories and reach a broader audience across the Island. Each month will feature a nonprofit issue, program or person that educates the public about the work being done and its often unseen impact.

    "How do you age with grace? This is the question facing one in three Martha’s Vineyard full-time residents, who are more than 65 years of age. As most of us know, age is a funny thing. Depending on one’s health and a myriad of life circumstances — from job fulfillment and retirement finances to the health and richness of the relationships one has — one can be 80 and feel young or 60 and feel old. That said, no matter how one feels, one thing is true: As we age, at some point we will need help. It might be small. A railing to get down the stairs might suddenly be a necessary home feature. It might be big. Driving might no longer be possible, or a partner might have died sooner than expected, and one is stuck with a big house and bigger expenses. No matter what, Healthy Aging Martha’s Vineyard (HAMV) works to fill the gaps and offer support services to ensure that aging Islanders can live the healthiest, most enriched life possible."
