Succession Planning

Strategic Continuity and the Legacy of Leadership

Presented by Curtis Strategy
for the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative

Wednesday, April 1 | 9:00 AM–12:00 PM | Virtual (Zoom)

MVNC is pleased to offer this half-day training designed to help nonprofit leaders navigate risk mitigation, emergency planning, and structural readiness.

Founded in 2008, Curtis Strategy works collaboratively with organizations to align the right resources, design innovative strategies, and develop customized plans that support long-term growth and sustainability. Their expertise includes strategic planning, organizational design, succession planning, board governance, and merger and affiliation (M&A) strategy.

Session Overview

Leadership transitions shouldn’t be a source of organizational crisis. This session provides executives and boards with the high-level frameworks necessary to secure organizational stability. We focus on the "Structural Readiness" of the organization—developing emergency protocols, identifying key leadership competencies, and establishing the board’s role in oversight.

True succession planning is more than a policy; it is a strategy for sustainable growth. We will position organizations to view transitions as a catalyst for innovation. We explore how to align leadership development with organizational culture, ensuring that the next generation of leaders is prepared to advance the mission rather than just maintain it.

Key Outcomes

Leave with a Succession Readiness Toolkit to ensure the mission remains uninterrupted, regardless of when a transition occurs.

Learn to build a Leadership Development Pipeline that strengthens internal talent and ensures cultural continuity through periods of change.
