MVNC Workshops and Events

MVNC workshops provide Island nonprofit staff and board members with the essential tools, skills and resources they need to keep their organizations running. Since 2020, MVNC has hosted over 65 online webinars or in-person workshops.

MVNC also hosts regular gatherings and events that provide nonprofit staff and board members with the opportunity to socialize, connect, skill share, and network. Past MVNC events have led to multi-organization partnerships like the formation of ArtsMV and Healthy Aging MV that continue to tackle systemic Island issues today.

Yearly Programming:

Each year we host over 20 webinars, networking events, information sessions and convenings for our nonprofit community. Many topics depend on the yearly feedback of our nonprofit community. However, there are several events and topics we re-visit each year as part of our core programming.

  • Nonprofit compliance
  • Human resources 101
  • Employment law
  • Fundraising Series (2-3 independent topics)
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • 3-4 additional topics depending on nonprofit feedback

convenings:

  • Executive Director Cocktails (Sep/Oct)
  • Island Nonprofit Collaboration Speed Dating (Feb)

Gentelligence®: Understanding & Leveraging Generational Diversity in the Workplace

    with Dr. Megan Gerhardt

    Thursday, April 17

    9-10:30 am, Zoom

Featured in Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, Time Magazine, NBC News, and more, Megan developed Gentelligence® to help organizations change the way they approach generational differences. Learn why the Gentelligence approach was named a Harvard Business Review Big Idea in 2022 and chosen as one of the 10 most definitive management ideas of the year in 2024!

With five generations currently in the workplace, many leaders view this dynamic as a frustration and a challenge. In this engaging session, you will learn how the strategies of Gentelligence® can help your organization leverage generational diversity as an opportunity and a competitive advantage instead.

    We will discuss:

    • How to push beyond lazy stereotypes to understand generational and age differences as a valuable form of diversity.

    • The barriers that often prevent organizations (and individuals) from intergenerational collaboration.

    • The 4 key practices of Gentelligence and ways to apply them to workplace challenges.

    • How to have smarter intergenerational conversations.

    About the Speaker

Megan W. Gerhardt, Ph.D., is a Professor of Management and Leadership at Miami University's Farmer School of Business. In addition to her academic work, she consults and speaks with leading organizations worldwide on leveraging generational diversity in the workplace and is the author of Gentelligence: A Revolutionary Approach to Leading an Intergenerational Workforce. Her Gentelligence framework was featured as Harvard Business Review's Big Idea in March 2022 and selected for Harvard Business Review's Top 10 Must Reads for 2024. Through her work (www.gentelligence.org), Dr. Gerhardt focuses on harnessing individual differences to drive impact and exceptional performance.
